The DALI Sonik 1 is the most compact speaker in DALI's Sonik series, a range that sits between the entry-level Spektor line and the mid-range Opticon family. Despite its diminutive cabinet, the Sonik 1 draws on driver and magnet technologies developed for DALI's higher-tier ranges, delivering a level of engineering sophistication unusual at this price point. Available in four finishes — Black Ash, White, Walnut, and Natural Oak — it is designed for flexible placement on shelves, stands, or wall-mounted using the included bracket.
Driver Technology
The Sonik 1 is a 2-way bass reflex design employing a 29mm ultra-light soft dome tweeter with a low-loss motor system. The soft woven fabric dome is paired with an aluminium faceplate engineered to extend bandwidth and improve high-frequency dispersion, ensuring wide, even coverage across the listening area.
The 5.25-inch mid/bass driver uses DALI's Clarity Cone membrane, a proprietary blend of paper and wood fibre. This composite is chosen for its combination of lightweight rigidity and superior resonance control, yielding a more natural, uncoloured midrange with a coherent handover to the tweeter at the 2,800 Hz crossover point.
SMC Essential Magnet System
Underpinning the woofer is DALI's SMC Essential magnet system. Soft Magnetic Compound material is placed directly in the voice coil's working zone, where it reduces third-order harmonic distortion by minimising hysteresis and eddy currents in the motor assembly. The result is a cleaner, more detailed midrange with improved linearity at higher drive levels.
Cabinet Construction
The enclosure is CNC-machined from MDF with rigid internal bracing to minimise cabinet resonance. A dual-flare bass reflex port, tuned to 51 Hz, allows the compact cabinet to deliver bass extension down to 51 Hz (±3 dB). DALI recommends positioning the Sonik 1 between 1 cm and 50 cm from the rear wall for optimal bass integration.
Connectivity & Installation
A single pair of binding post terminals provides the connection point, supporting both banana plugs and bare wire. An integrated wall-mount bracket is included, offering an alternative to shelf or stand placement without the need for additional accessories.
