DALI Oberon 3 Bookshelf Speakers Black Ash (Pair)

The DALI Oberon 3 is the larger of DALI’s two bookshelf speakers in the Oberon range, sitting above the compact Oberon 1. Where the Oberon 1 uses a 5¼-inch woofer suited to smaller rooms, the Oberon 3 steps up to the same 7-inch wood fibre driver found in the floorstanding Oberon 7, delivering greater low-frequency extension and scale from a cabinet compact enough for shelf or stand placement.

Driver Technology

The 7-inch woofer uses a cone made from a blend of fine-grain paper pulp reinforced with wood fibres, creating a structure that is both stiff and lightweight. This combination allows detailed midrange reproduction alongside extended bass output. The motor system incorporates DALI’s patented SMC (Soft Magnetic Compound) technology, which greatly reduces mechanical distortion caused by hysteresis and eddy currents in the magnet assembly. The result is a relaxed midrange with a level of detail unusual at this price point.

The 29mm soft dome tweeter was developed specifically for the Oberon series. Its oversized diaphragm allows higher sound pressure levels with less excursion, reducing voice-coil motion and delivering wide, even dispersion across the listening area. DALI designs the Oberon speakers for broad off-axis performance rather than a narrow sweet spot, reducing harmonic distortion and diffraction effects at the cabinet edges.

Cabinet Construction

The cabinet is built from high-density, CNC-machined MDF board dressed in a high-grade vinyl finish. Internal solid bracing minimises cabinet resonance. A rear-firing bass port is tuned to work with nearby wall surfaces, making the Oberon 3 relatively forgiving of placement close to a rear boundary. The front grille uses a rounded design for a clean, contemporary appearance.

System Compatibility

The Oberon 3 is designed to integrate with the wider Oberon range for multi-channel use. It can serve as front left and right channels in a home cinema system alongside the Oberon Vokal centre speaker, Oberon On-Wall surrounds, and Oberon 1 or Oberon 3 rear speakers. A dedicated stand, the DALI E-601, is available for optimal positioning.
