The DALI KUPID sits at the entry point of DALI’s loudspeaker range, positioned below the Oberon and Opticon series. Designed in Denmark, it is a compact passive bookshelf speaker engineered for nearfield listening in smaller rooms, desktop setups and casual listening environments where space is limited.

Driver Technology

The KUPID is a 2-way design featuring a 4½-inch (114 mm) bass/midrange driver with a paper and wood fibre cone — a material combination found across DALI’s range for its balance of stiffness and low mass. The high-frequency driver is a 26 mm soft dome tweeter with an ultra-light woven fabric diaphragm. A custom crossover network at 2,100 Hz manages the handover between the two drivers.

Bass Reflex Design

The rear-ported enclosure uses DALI’s dual flare bass reflex port, which reduces air turbulence at the port exits for cleaner bass output. The port is tuned to 53 Hz, extending low-frequency response down to 63 Hz (±3 dB). Despite the compact cabinet dimensions of just 237 × 140 × 195 mm, the KUPID achieves a maximum SPL of 103 dB.

Placement Flexibility

The KUPID is designed to work in a variety of positions: on a bookshelf, desk, sideboard or wall-mounted using the included brackets. DALI specifies a recommended distance from the rear wall of just 2.5 cm to 60 cm, meaning the speakers can be placed very close to a wall without significant bass interference — a practical advantage in tight spaces. Rubber feet are included for shelf and desktop placement.

Amplifier Compatibility

With a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and a sensitivity of 83 dB (2.83V/1m), the KUPID benefits from a capable amplifier. DALI recommends between 40 and 120 watts of amplification. The consistent impedance characteristic should ensure smooth performance across a range of amplifiers, though the relatively low sensitivity means higher-powered models will bring the best results.
