DALI Oberon Grand Vokal Centre Speaker Dark Walnut (Single)

The DALI OBERON Grand Vokal is the largest centre channel speaker in the OBERON range, designed to match the output and dynamic capability of the OBERON 7 and OBERON 9 floorstanding speakers. Where the standard OBERON Vokal uses a pair of 5¼-inch drivers, the Grand Vokal steps up to two 7-inch woofers in a substantially larger cabinet, delivering greater headroom and more authority across dialogue, sound effects, and music in larger listening rooms.

Driver Technology

The two 7-inch low/mid-frequency drivers use DALI’s signature wood fibre cone construction — a blend of fine-grain paper pulp reinforced with wood fibres. This combination produces a stiff, lightweight diaphragm with low resonance and controlled behaviour, allowing the cones to reproduce fine midrange detail with accuracy. Each driver is paired with a low-loss surround and suspension system designed to minimise energy storage and preserve the integrity of the original signal.

The high-frequency driver is a 29 mm soft dome tweeter built from an ultra-lightweight material that DALI states weighs less than half that of most comparable tweeters. The reduced mass minimises voice-coil motion, which in turn reduces distortion and allows the tweeter to reproduce fine detail with less effort. The crossover between the low/mid drivers and the tweeter is set at 2,500 Hz.

SMC Magnet System

The OBERON range is DALI’s first entry-level series to incorporate the brand’s patented SMC (Soft Magnetic Compound) magnet system. SMC is designed to deliver extremely low distortion, particularly in the midrange frequencies where human hearing is most sensitive to distortion artefacts — and where the clarity of movie dialogue depends on accurate reproduction even at low volume levels.

Cabinet and Design

The Grand Vokal uses a bass reflex cabinet with a rear-firing port. At 700 mm wide, the cabinet is significantly larger than the standard Vokal, providing the internal volume needed to support the larger drivers and extend low-frequency performance down to 45 Hz. The wide dispersion design principle shared across all OBERON speakers ensures consistent tonal balance across a broad listening area, whether seated centrally or off-axis.

The speaker is finished in a choice of Black Ash or Dark Walnut vinyl wrap, with a matte black baffle. A magnetic grille is included. Connection is via a single pair of binding post terminals at the rear.
