Description
The Px7 S3 sits in the heart of the Bowers & Wilkins over-ear headphone range, positioned above the entry-level Px7 series and below the flagship Px8. It is the third generation of the Px7 line, succeeding the Px7 S2e with a slimmer profile, a refined headband and an updated acoustic and electronic platform aimed at richer detail, deeper bass and greater clarity.
Design and Comfort
Bowers & Wilkins has reworked the chassis with slimmer earcups and a refined headband for comfortable, extended listening. The Frost Blue finish pairs an icy blue-grey body with a fabric-covered headband, and the build weighs 300g without the carry case. A protective carry case is supplied, along with a USB-C to 3.5mm stereo jack audio cable and a USB-C to USB-C cable.
Sound and Engineering
Each earcup houses a 40mm dynamic full-range bio-cellulose drive unit. The headphones use a high-performance DSP with a dedicated amplifier and DAC, carrying a true 24-bit audio signal through to the drivers. A five-band customisable EQ is available through the Bowers & Wilkins Music app, alongside a TrueSound mode tuned by the company's engineers.
Noise Cancellation and Calls
Adaptive noise cancellation draws on eight microphones, with four per earcup, allowing the level of cancellation to be matched to your surroundings. The same microphone array is used for voice calls.
Connectivity and Battery
Wireless connection is by Bluetooth 5.3 with support for aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX Classic, AAC and SBC. The USB-C port handles both charging and a wired audio interface. Battery life is rated at up to 30 hours of playback, and a 15-minute quick charge delivers up to seven hours of listening.
