The FS-M-1 is a bespoke floor stand designed specifically for the Bowers & Wilkins M-1 satellite speaker. Where the M-1 is already one of the most adaptable speakers in the Bowers & Wilkins Mini Theatre range, equally at home as a stereo pair, in a multi-channel home theatre system, or as a surround speaker, the FS-M-1 adds a further dimension by freeing it from walls, shelves, and table surfaces and placing it at the ideal listening height for floor-standing use.
Design
The FS-M-1 is finished in Matte Black to complement the corresponding M-1 finish. The stand uses a slender single pole rising from an elliptical base, giving it a deliberately minimal footprint. An integrated cable management channel runs through the length of the pole, keeping speaker cables concealed and the overall installation tidy. The M-1 connects to the stand via dedicated binding posts, positive and negative, built into the mounting bracket at the top of the pole, so no separate speaker terminal adapter is needed.
Placement and Performance
Elevating the M-1 to a freestanding position allows for precise acoustic placement without compromise. Rather than being constrained to a fixed shelf or bracket position, the FS-M-1 allows the speaker to be positioned at the optimum listening height and at the ideal angle relative to the listening seat, which has a direct bearing on stereo imaging and tonal balance. Bowers & Wilkins describe the combination as facilitating “outstanding performance in any environment.”
Compatibility
The FS-M-1 is engineered exclusively for the M-1 speaker; the mounting hardware and cable routing are specific to that model. The M-1 itself is sold separately. The stands are supplied as a pair and are available in Matte Black or Matte White to match either M-1 finish option.
