Bowers & Wilkins DB2D Active Subwoofer Satin White

The DB2D sits in the middle of Bowers & Wilkins’ DB Series subwoofer range, positioned between the compact DB3D and the flagship DB1D. Designed to complement the 800 Series Diamond loudspeakers, it combines twin 250mm Aerofoil-cone drivers with 1000W of Class D Hypex amplification in a cabinet compact enough for most dedicated listening rooms and home cinemas.

Balanced-Drive Aerofoil Cones

At the heart of the DB2D are two 250mm (10-inch) Aerofoil-cone bass drivers, using the same cone technology found in the flagship 800 D3 loudspeakers. The drivers are mounted in a balanced, opposing configuration — firing in opposite directions so that mechanical forces cancel each other out. This dramatically reduces cabinet vibration and allows the enclosure to remain inert even at high output levels, keeping distortion low and bass articulate.

Digital Amplification and DSP

A 1000W Class D Hypex amplifier drives the twin cones with authority across the full operating range. Digital signal processing handles crossover duties, and the built-in Dynamic EQ system continuously adjusts the output to maintain tonal balance at all volume levels. Room EQ uses the onboard microphone — no separate measurement kit is required — to analyse the room’s acoustic characteristics and apply correction automatically, ensuring even bass response regardless of placement.

App Control and Connectivity

Setup and control are handled through a dedicated Bowers & Wilkins app for iOS and Android, communicating via Bluetooth Low Energy. The app provides access to audio presets, level adjustment, crossover settings, and the Room EQ calibration process. Positioning guides within the app help optimise placement for the best performance in your room.

The rear panel offers comprehensive connectivity: two XLR balanced inputs, two RCA line-level inputs, two 3.5mm inputs, a 12V trigger for automatic power-on with an AV receiver, and an RS-232 9-pin D connector for integration with custom installation control systems.

Construction

The cabinet measures 430 x 377 x 360mm (H x W x D) and weighs 36kg. Three finishes are available: Gloss Black with black grilles, Rosenut with black grilles, and Satin White with grey grilles. The compact footprint and cubed proportions allow the DB2D to sit discreetly alongside floorstanding speakers or within a dedicated home cinema setup.
