Aerofoil Cone Technology
The DB1D’s 300mm drive units use the same Aerofoil cone technology found in the 800 Series Diamond loudspeakers. The uniquely shaped, variable-thickness cone profile achieves an exceptional combination of rigidity and low mass. This allows the drivers to move large volumes of air with precision, producing bass that is both powerful and fast — free from the sluggish, bloated character that can afflict conventional subwoofer designs.
Balanced Driver Configuration
The two Aerofoil drivers are mounted in a back-to-back (opposed) arrangement within an ultra-rigid, highly damped enclosure. This balanced configuration cancels the mechanical reaction forces that would otherwise cause the cabinet to vibrate, ensuring that every watt of amplifier power is directed into producing bass rather than being wasted as cabinet resonance. The result is explosive, tightly controlled low-frequency output with minimal distortion.
Digital Amplification and Processing
The 2000W Class D digital amplifier is inherently cool-running and energy efficient, even under sustained high-output conditions. The DB1D is configured and controlled via a dedicated Bowers & Wilkins subwoofer app, available for iOS and Android. Connection is made via Bluetooth Low Energy, placing full control in the palm of your hand. The app incorporates a room EQ system that measures and corrects for the acoustic characteristics of your listening environment — requiring no separate microphone kit. This makes setup straightforward and ensures the subwoofer performs at its best regardless of room placement.
Connectivity
Inputs include two balanced XLR connections, two RCA line-level inputs, and two 3.5mm inputs, covering virtually any source or processor configuration.
