Bob Marley & The Wailers - Legend (LP) Vinyl

Legend is the greatest hits compilation by Bob Marley and the Wailers, first released on 7 May 1984 by Island Records. It is the best-selling reggae album of all time, with more than 25 million copies sold worldwide, and it has spent 1,250 weeks in the top 100 of the official UK Albums Chart, the third-longest run in that chart's history.

The Compilation

Legend gathers all ten of Bob Marley's UK Top 40 hit singles up to that point alongside three songs from the original Wailers line-up with Peter Tosh and Bunny Livingston: "Stir It Up", "I Shot the Sheriff" and "Get Up, Stand Up". "Redemption Song", the closing song from Uprising, completes the fourteen. "No Woman No Cry" appears in the live version from the Live! album, recorded at the London Lyceum. The tracklist was constructed by Dave Robinson, and Bruno Tilley worked as art director and creative consultant on the sleeve design; the main sleeve photography is credited to Adrian Boot.

Legend was ranked number 46 in Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2003 and held that position in the magazine's revised 2012 list. In the United Kingdom it has been certified 13 times Platinum, with sales of more than 3,380,000 copies.

This Pressing

This is the Island and Tuff Gong reissue, a single 180 gram LP carrying catalogue number 5303052. It keeps the original 1984 fourteen-track running order across two sides, pressed on black vinyl with the blue and purple Island labels and housed in a single, non-gatefold sleeve. The rear of the sleeve carries a sleeve note on every track together with the full Wailers 1972 to 1981 personnel credits.
