AudioQuest is pleased to announce that its Rivers Series of analog interconnects has been expanded with a new, high-value entry-level model Chicago. Chicago uses Solid Long-Grain Copper (LGC) Conductors in a Double-Balanced Geometry and starts at just for a 1.0 meter pair with RCAs.
The rest of the Rivers place their conductors in a Triple-Balanced Geometry and are available with RCAs and XLRs. Like Chicago, Red River uses our Solid Long-Grain Copper (LGC) Conductors, while Mackenzie and Yukon employ AQ’s best copper conductor metal, Perfect-Surface Copper+. Like Red River and Mackenzie, Chicago uses Hard-Cell Foam insulation, while Yukon has the added sonic benefit of Polyethylene Air-Tubes, which reduce distortion even further. Chicago and Red River employ a Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation System (NDS), while Mackenzie and Yukon offer the substantial upgrade to a Carbon-Based 3-Layer Noise-Dissipation System.
All four Rivers Series models exhibit our most recent thinking on plug design, featuring Cold-Welded terminations that use pressure to join a cable’s conductors and plug, thereby reducing the distortion that would be introduced by using damaging heat or foreign materials like solder. While Chicago and Red River have high-quality gold-plated plugs, Mackenzie and Yukon are equipped with more sophisticated plugs machined from pure Purple Copper. These plugs then benefit from our Hanging-Silver plating process, in which the copper plugs are submerged into a vat of extreme-purity silver to produce a very thick, sonically superior Direct-Silver Plating.
In addition to prepared cables, in a nod to custom-installation needs, Chicago, Red River, and Mackenzie are available as custom cables in braid or CL3/FT4 rated PVC jackets, either by the meter or in 100-meter (Chicago, Red River) and 50-meter (Mackenzie) spools. Chicago RCA, Red River RCA and XLR, and Mackenzie RCA and XLR plugs are available in sets of 4. A dedicated crimping tool is required.
