The Advance Paris X-A600 is a stereo power amplifier sitting at the heart of the French manufacturer's Classic Line, positioned between the X-A160EVO and the flagship X-A1200 mono blocks. Designed for audiophiles who demand serious current delivery without compromising refinement, it pairs naturally with the X-P700 or X-P1200 preamplifiers from the same range.
Amplifier Topology
The X-A600 operates in Class AB as standard, but a rear-panel High BIAS switch enables sliding Class A operation for the first few watts of output. In this mode the amplifier delivers its initial output in pure Class A before transitioning seamlessly to Class AB as demand increases, combining the warmth and linearity of Class A at typical listening levels with the headroom and efficiency of Class AB when the music calls for it.
Power Supply
The power supply is built around a 700 VA toroidal transformer feeding a capacitor bank totalling 60,000 µF across six capacitors. This substantial energy reserve feeds high-current NJW0281G and NJW0302G output transistors, enabling the X-A600 to deliver 2 × 200 W RMS into 8 Ω and 2 × 300 W RMS into 4 Ω. Maximum power consumption is 575 W, dropping to below 0.5 W in standby.
Construction
The chassis is designed for significant rigidity through a compartmentalised construction that provides effective shielding between the power supply, amplification, and input stages. At 25 kg net weight, the X-A600 is a substantial piece of engineering. The front panel features a pair of VU meters with five brightness settings — off, low, medium, and high — giving visual feedback on output level while allowing the display to be dimmed or disabled entirely.
Connectivity
The X-A600 accepts both RCA and XLR inputs, selectable via a toggle switch on the rear panel. Speaker outputs accommodate bare wire, banana plugs, or spade connectors. Two 12 V trigger sockets (in and out) allow the amplifier to be integrated into an automated system, powering on and off with a connected preamplifier or processor.
