The Advance Paris A10 Classic is the centrepiece of the French manufacturer's Classic Line, a hybrid integrated amplifier that pairs an ECC81/12AT7 tube preamplifier stage with a Class AB power amplifier delivering 2×130W into 8Ω (rising to 2×190W into 4Ω). Inspired by the flagship X-i1100, the A10 Classic brings much of that model's topology and connectivity to a more accessible price point, combining analogue warmth with comprehensive digital and analogue input options.
Hybrid Amplification
The A10 Classic uses a dual-mono ECC81/12AT7 valve preamplifier feeding a push-pull Class AB output stage. A rear-panel High Bias switch allows the first watts to be delivered in Class A, trading efficiency for a purer signal path at low listening levels. The VU meters flanking the exposed tubes provide real-time power output monitoring and are invisible when the unit is off, illuminating with a blue glow when powered on.
Built-in DAC and Digital Connectivity
An ESS Sabre ES9018 DAC provides high-resolution digital-to-analogue conversion, accepting PCM signals up to 384 kHz/32-bit and DSD64/128/256 via DoP over the rear USB-B input. Additional digital inputs include two coaxial S/PDIF, one optical TOSLINK, and a USB-A port. An HDMI ARC connection with CEC support allows the A10 Classic to serve as the audio hub for a television, switching on automatically when the TV sends an audio signal.
Analogue Inputs and Phono Stage
The A10 Classic offers six analogue inputs: four auxiliary RCA, one dedicated CD, one tuner, and a balanced XLR input for source components with balanced outputs. A moving-magnet phono stage with three selectable capacitance settings (100, 200, and 320 pF) accommodates a range of MM cartridges directly, eliminating the need for an external phono preamplifier.
System Integration
Dual mono subwoofer outputs with a fixed 400 Hz low-pass crossover allow seamless bass management with one or two subwoofers. Pre-Out and Main-In connections are separable, enabling the A10 Classic to function as a standalone preamplifier or power amplifier within a larger system. A/B/A+B speaker switching supports two pairs of loudspeakers, and 12V trigger in/out connectors allow synchronised power-on with other components. A 6.35 mm headphone output is fitted to the front panel.
