The Acoustic Energy AE300² is a compact 2-way bookshelf loudspeaker sitting at the heart of the redesigned 300 Series — a range that spans the AE300² bookshelf, the AE307² LCR, the slim AE309² floorstander and the larger AE320² flagship. Developed using research derived from Acoustic Energy’s Corinium project, the AE300² brings new driver technology, improved cabinet construction and refined crossover design into a price-competitive enclosure suited to small and medium-sized rooms.
Driver Technology
The AE300² pairs a 120mm paper/coconut-fibre bass-mid driver with a 29mm fabric dome tweeter. The bass-mid cone uses a composite of paper and coconut husk fibre, a material chosen for its smooth, natural frequency response combined with impressive stiffness and reduced breakup modes. The tweeter is mounted in Acoustic Energy’s latest WDT (Wide Dispersion Technology) waveguide, which controls baffle diffraction at crossover frequencies and broadens the listening window for a stable, wide soundstage even in off-axis positions.
Cabinet Construction
The cabinet is an 18mm constrained-layer RSC™ (Resonance Suppression Composite) design, bonding MDF with a bitumen damping layer to significantly reduce cabinet radiation compared to traditional MDF or plywood construction. A slot-shaped duct port on the rear augments bass output while minimising air turbulence for clean, undistorted low-frequency performance. The Matte White finish uses Acoustic Energy’s ‘silk-touch’ material with colour-coordinated screen-printed logos, trims and magnetically attached cloth grilles.
