Q Acoustics QI65RP Performance In-Wall Speaker (Single)

The QI65RP sits within Q Acoustics’ Q Install in-wall range, positioned as the 6.5-inch performance model alongside the larger QI80RP and the D’Appolito-array LCR 65RP centre channel. Designed for home cinema surround duties and multi-room audio, it delivers a level of engineering typically reserved for freestanding speakers in a form factor that disappears behind a magnetically attached grille.

Driver Technology

The low-frequency driver uses a nano-particle mass-damped polypropylene cone paired with a high-powered voice coil and magnet assembly. This combination targets low distortion and high transient power capability, keeping dialogue and effects clean even at elevated levels. The 25mm silk-dome tweeter is both swivel-capable and equipped with a switchable high-frequency level adjustment, allowing the installer to fine-tune treble output for the room’s acoustic character. A mesh protector shields the dome during and after installation.

Crossover & Optimisation

A high-order crossover network manages the handoff between drivers, ensuring smooth frequency transitions and minimising colouration through the critical midrange. The internal geometry has been optimised for the frequency range, maintaining even dispersion across the listening area — important in surround applications where off-axis performance matters as much as on-axis clarity.

Installation

With a maximum rear depth of just 79mm, the QI65RP fits comfortably within most standard stud walls. The cutout measures 275mm × 187mm, and the magnetically attached grille (306mm × 219mm) sits nearly flush with the wall surface for an unobtrusive finish. No visible fixings are required once the grille is in place.
