The W250-LCR is an in-wall speaker from Monitor Audio's Core range, designed for left, centre, and right channel duties in custom-installed home cinema systems. Its dual-driver configuration and pivoting tweeter allow it to be mounted vertically or horizontally, making it equally effective in any LCR position without compromising the room's visual appearance.
Driver Technology
The W250-LCR employs two 5-inch MMP II (Metal Matrix Polymer) cone bass drivers paired with a 1-inch (25mm) C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter. The MMP II cones combine the rigidity of metal with the damping properties of polymer, producing a driver that is both lightweight and strong — qualities that contribute to fast, controlled bass response. The C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium) Gold Dome tweeter is a technology found throughout Monitor Audio's speaker ranges, delivering detailed high-frequency reproduction with low distortion.
Pivoting Tweeter & HF Adjustment
The C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter pivots up to 15 degrees in any direction, allowing installers to aim the high frequencies towards the primary listening position even when the speaker is mounted off-axis. A three-position High Frequency Level Switch (+3 dB, 0 dB, -3 dB) provides further tonal control, enabling fine-tuning to suit the acoustics of the room and the characteristics of the wall cavity.
Installation
Built on a mineral-filled ABS frame, the W250-LCR is secured in the wall using Monitor Audio's Tri-Grip dog fixings, which clamp the speaker firmly to the plasterboard without needing access from behind. A WB5LCR pre-construction bracket is included for new-build installations where the speaker location can be prepared before the wall is finished. The magnetic grille is paintable, allowing it to be colour-matched to the surrounding wall for a completely discreet installation. The cut-out required measures just 145 x 353 mm, with a mounting depth of 100.2 mm.
Connectivity
Gold-plated spring-post terminals accept bare wire up to 10 AWG, banana plugs (single or dual), and angled pin connectors, providing flexibility for different installation scenarios.
