Uni-Q Driver Technology

At the centre of every speaker in this package is KEF's Uni-Q driver array, which places the 25mm vented aluminium dome tweeter at the acoustic centre of the 165mm aluminium mid-bass cone. This concentric arrangement means high and low frequencies radiate from a single point source, producing a more uniform dispersion pattern than conventional two-way designs where the drivers are physically separated. The result is a wider listening sweet spot and more consistent tonal balance across the room — a particular advantage in a surround sound configuration where listeners are rarely positioned equidistant from all five speakers.

Q350 Bookshelf Speakers

The four Q350 bookshelf speakers handle the front left, front right, rear left, and rear right channels. Each is a two-way bass reflex design with the 165mm Uni-Q driver delivering a frequency response of 63Hz–28kHz (±3dB) and extending to 42Hz at the −6dB point. Sensitivity is rated at 87dB (2.83V/1m) with a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms (minimum 3.7 Ohms), and each speaker is capable of a maximum output of 110dB. KEF recommends amplification between 15 and 120 watts per channel.

Q650c Centre Channel

Dialogue clarity is handled by the Q650c, a 2.5-way bass reflex centre channel that adds a dedicated 165mm aluminium low-frequency driver and a 165mm aluminium auxiliary bass radiator (ABR) alongside the Uni-Q array. This three-driver configuration extends low-frequency output to 55Hz (−6dB) while maintaining the same 87dB sensitivity and 8 Ohm nominal impedance as the Q350s. The Q650c accepts amplification from 15 to 150 watts and delivers a maximum output of 110dB, ensuring it can keep pace with the surround speakers during dynamic film soundtracks.

System Integration

All five speakers in this package share the same Uni-Q driver technology, aluminium cone materials, and voicing philosophy. This tonal consistency across all channels ensures seamless panning of sound effects and a cohesive soundstage, whether the content is a two-channel stereo recording expanded through a surround processor or a native 5.0 film mix. The package requires a separate AV receiver or amplifier — it does not include amplification or a subwoofer.
