Transport & Mechanism
The DCD-900NE uses Denon's Advanced S.V.H. (Suppress Vibration Hybrid) mechanism, engineered to isolate the optical pickup from chassis resonance, a source of read errors and jitter at the transport stage. The power transformer is mounted low in the chassis, directly above the insulating feet, to limit vibration transmission into the disc tray and pickup assembly. Physical separation between the audio, digital, and power sections reduces the risk of mechanical and electromagnetic interference between boards. The player accepts CD, CD-R, and CD-RW discs, and reads MP3 and WMA files encoded on disc.
Digital Processing & Conversion
Advanced AL32 Processing Plus is Denon's upsampling and interpolation engine. It extends the 16-bit/44.1 kHz CD bitstream to a 32-bit/705.6 kHz signal before the analogue conversion stage, combining bit-extension (to lower the quantisation noise floor) with high-accuracy sample interpolation. The upsampled signal is passed to the ESS Sabre ES9018K2M, a 2-channel 32-bit DAC rated to 192 kHz. Denon implements a DAC Master Clock design: the master clock signal originates at the DAC chip itself, with the oscillator physically adjacent to the converter, minimising jitter accumulation along the clock path.
