AudioQuest NRG-X3 UK Power Cable (3m Single)

The AudioQuest NRG-X3 sits within the Essential tier of AudioQuest’s NRG power cable range, positioned below the NRG-Y3 and NRG-Z3. Where the higher models introduce proprietary noise-reduction technologies such as ZERO-Tech and RF/ND-Tech, the NRG-X3 focuses on delivering clean, reliable mains power through solid engineering fundamentals at an accessible price point.

Semi-Solid Concentric Long-Grain Copper

The NRG-X3 uses direction-controlled Semi-Solid Concentric conductors made from Long-Grain Copper (LGC). Long-Grain Copper minimises distortion caused by grain boundaries that exist within any metal conductor. The Semi-Solid Concentric geometry packs the strands more tightly than conventional cable construction, and crucially the strands never change position within the bundle. This eliminates the strand-interaction distortion that occurs in loosely packed conductors where strands shift against each other.

Direction-Controlled Conductors

All conductors in the NRG-X3 are direction-controlled. AudioQuest manages RF impedance variation along the cable’s length so that induced noise is dissipated and drained away from the connected equipment rather than being fed back into it. Directional arrows on the connectors indicate the correct orientation for optimal performance. This multifaceted noise-dissipation approach reduces the electromagnetic interference that can compromise audio and video signal quality.

Construction & Termination

The cable uses 16 AWG conductors finished in a black nylon braid jacket with red accent stripes. Both the UK 3-pin mains plug and the IEC C13 equipment connector use cold-welded terminations, which avoid the use of solder and the signal degradation that solder joints can introduce at the connection point.

Applications

The NRG-X3 is designed for hi-fi and home cinema components that use an IEC C13 power inlet. Suitable applications include integrated amplifiers, AV receivers, network streamers, DACs, CD players, and powered speakers. It provides a straightforward upgrade path from the generic moulded power cables typically supplied with audio equipment.
