Overview

The Acoustic Energy AE520 is the flagship floor-standing loudspeaker of the 500 Series. It is designed as a slim, high-output tower for medium to large rooms, using Acoustic Energy’s latest carbon fibre drive units and RSC (Resonance Suppression Composite) cabinet construction to deliver powerful, controlled bass and a clean, highly detailed presentation.

Five 125 mm carbon fibre cone drivers work alongside a 25 mm carbon fibre dome tweeter in a sophisticated 3-way layout. Dedicated midrange drivers operate in their own sealed chambers, while the bass drivers are reflex loaded via a large rear-firing rectangular port. This allows the AE520 to combine scale and authority with strong vocal presence and a natural tonal balance.

Performance highlights

The AE520’s carbon fibre tweeter offers a very light, well-damped dome driven by a cast aluminium waveguide. This improves dispersion and helps the high frequencies remain smooth and open, even at elevated listening levels. The midrange section, with its large 35 mm voice coils and sealed sub-enclosures, is tuned for clarity and low colouration, keeping speech intelligible and instruments well separated.

The three dedicated low-frequency drivers provide deep bass extension and strong dynamic headroom, while the RSC cabinet construction suppresses vibration that would otherwise smear fine detail. Together, these elements allow the AE520 to deliver a fast, articulate and room-filling sound that remains composed in less-than-ideal acoustic spaces.
