Overview
The Acoustic Energy AE500 is a compact stand-mount loudspeaker from the flagship 500 Series. Building on the success of the AE100 and AE300, it introduces advanced carbon fibre drive units and Resonance Suppression Composite (RSC) cabinet technology to deliver a cleaner, more transparent sound from a modest footprint.
A 125 mm carbon fibre mid/bass driver works in tandem with a 25 mm carbon fibre dome tweeter, both engineered for low distortion, high power handling and excellent transient response. The result is a neutral, detailed presentation with impressive dynamics and control, making the AE500 equally at home in dedicated listening rooms and more compact living spaces.
Technology & design
The AE500’s tweeter uses a lightweight carbon fibre dome mounted in a rigid cast aluminium waveguide, positioned close to the mid/bass unit for optimised dispersion and smooth integration. This arrangement helps maintain clarity and composure at higher levels while keeping high-frequency reproduction sweet and natural.
The 125 mm mid/bass driver features an oversized 35 mm voice coil and an optimised motor and suspension system, giving the AE500 strong yet controlled bass performance with excellent midrange definition. The RSC cabinet, derived from Acoustic Energy’s Reference Series, uses constrained-layer construction to suppress cabinet radiation and reduce colouration, allowing more of the driver detail to be heard.
