The Roksan Attessa Turntable is the vinyl source in Roksan’s Attessa Series 1G — the entry point to the British manufacturer’s range, sitting below the long-established Caspian series. Designed and engineered in London, the Attessa Turntable is a two-speed, unsuspended, belt-drive deck that arrives ready to play straight from the box, with a factory-fitted Roksan Dana moving-magnet cartridge and a built-in switchable phono stage.
Platter and Bearing
The platter is a high-mass 10mm tempered glass disc with a spun and anodised aluminium edge, weighing just under 2 kg. Its density helps smooth out speed irregularities and store rotational energy. The main bearing uses a grade 303 stainless steel spindle running on a steel ball inside a brass housing, providing low-friction, low-noise rotation.
Motor and Speed Control
A 24-pole AC synchronous motor drives the platter via a belt and solid aluminium pulley. Speed switching between 33⅓ and 45 RPM is handled electronically by a high-precision digitally synthesised AC signal generator with a low-distortion output — a level of speed control not commonly found at this price point, helping to minimise wow and flutter.
Tonearm
The Attessa’s proprietary unipivot tonearm was developed using computer-aided modelling. It has a 5052 aluminium top section with an ABS lower section, an effective length of 240 mm, and an effective mass of 14.9 g. Internal wiring uses 0.08 mm OFC copper. A glass jewel pivot provides low-friction bearing performance.
Cartridge
The factory-fitted Roksan Dana cartridge is a moving-magnet design with a bonded elliptical stylus and a diamond-tipped tapered aluminium cantilever. Output is rated at 3.5 mV. Recommended tracking force is 1.8–2.2 g.
Built-in Phono Stage
A switchable MM phono stage is built into the turntable, allowing direct connection to any line-level input. When active, it provides 42 dB of gain at 1 kHz with a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 64 dB and an input impedance of 47 kΩ / 100 pF. A small slide switch on the rear panel bypasses the stage when an external phono preamplifier is preferred.
Construction
The single-layer plinth sits on three isolating feet. The chassis design draws on techniques developed for Roksan’s flagship Xerxes turntable to minimise structural resonance. An external 5 V 1.5 A switch-mode power supply keeps the motor’s electrical noise away from the audio signal path. Output is via stereo RCA sockets with a low-capacitance phono cable.
