The Polk Audio Reserve R200 sits at the top of the Reserve bookshelf range, using the same custom-made transducer technology originally developed for Polk’s higher-end Legend Series. Where the smaller R100 uses a 5.25-inch mid-bass driver, the R200 steps up to a 6.5-inch Turbine Cone woofer in a substantially larger cabinet, extending bass response down to 39Hz and making it equally suited to two-channel stereo listening and home cinema surround duties.
Pinnacle Ring Radiator Tweeter
At the heart of the R200’s high-frequency performance is a 25mm Pinnacle Ring Radiator tweeter. The distinctive pointed waveguide at its centre is precision-shaped to control the dispersion of high frequencies, widening the sweet spot so that listeners across a broader seating area hear a consistent, open treble. The ring radiator design extends high-frequency response to 50kHz, earning Hi-Res Audio certification.
Turbine Cone Mid-Bass Driver
The 6.5-inch Turbine Cone uses a Polk-proprietary foam core with moulded turbine geometry to increase stiffness and damping without adding mass. This combination allows the cone to reproduce midrange detail with precision while maintaining the low-frequency extension needed for convincing bass from a bookshelf cabinet. The result is a smooth, articulate midrange with controlled, punchy bass output.
Power Port 2.0 & X-Port Technology
Bass management uses Polk’s patented Power Port 2.0, a rear-firing port designed to smooth the transition of air exiting the cabinet and reduce turbulence noise that can colour low-frequency reproduction. Working alongside this, X-Port technology employs specially tuned eigentone filters to cancel unwanted resonances within the port itself, directing them away from the drivers. The combined effect is tight, distortion-free bass that remains clean even at higher listening levels.
Cabinet Construction
The Reserve R200 cabinet is precisely cross-braced using Laser Doppler Vibrometer-optimised point-to-point bracing to eliminate standing waves. Cabinet Resonance Control further suppresses panel vibration, ensuring the enclosure contributes no colouration to the sound. Rounded exterior corners help disperse diffracted energy, while magnetically attached, acoustically transparent grilles maintain a clean aesthetic without compromising sound quality.
