The Polk Audio Reserve R100 is the most compact bookshelf speaker in the Reserve Series — Polk Audio’s flagship speaker range, which draws directly on driver and cabinet technology developed for the award-winning Legend Series. Designed for stand-mounted stereo listening, desktop systems, or surround and Dolby Atmos height channel duties in a home cinema, the R100 delivers the Reserve Series’ engineering in a form factor suited to smaller rooms and tighter placements.

Pinnacle Ring Radiator Tweeter

High frequencies are handled by Polk Audio’s 25 mm Pinnacle Ring Radiator tweeter. The distinctive pointed waveguide at the centre of the dome controls dispersion, widening the sweet spot and maintaining a smooth, extended treble response across a broad listening area. The R100 is Hi-Res Audio certified, reproducing frequencies up to 50 kHz.

Turbine Cone Mid/Bass Driver

A 133 mm Turbine Cone driver manages midrange and bass duties. The turbine geometry — a series of moulded ribs radiating from the centre of the cone — increases rigidity without adding mass, allowing the driver to track transients accurately while maintaining a clean, detailed midrange through the vocal band. Crossover between the tweeter and woofer is set at 2700 Hz.

X-Port Bass Reflex Loading

The rear-firing port uses Polk Audio’s X-Port technology: a set of closed-pipe absorbers tuned to cancel unwanted eigentone resonances inside the cabinet and port tube. The result is tighter, more controlled bass output with reduced port chuffing and midrange colouration, extending the usable low-frequency response down to 44 Hz.

Cabinet Construction

The enclosure uses internal cross-bracing to stiffen the panels and suppress cabinet vibration. Externally, the rounded front baffle edges reduce diffraction effects around the drivers, contributing to a cleaner off-axis response. Nickel-plated five-way binding posts on the rear panel accept bare wire, spade, pin, and banana plug connections. Keyhole mounting slots on the rear panel allow wall mounting without additional brackets.

Reserve Series Range

Within the Reserve Series, the R100 sits below the R200 (which uses a larger 165 mm woofer for greater bass extension and higher sensitivity). The full Reserve range includes floorstanding, centre, surround, and Dolby Atmos modules, all sharing the same Pinnacle Ring Radiator tweeter and Turbine Cone driver technology, enabling a timbre-matched multi-channel system.
