Monitor Audio Silver 200 7G Floorstanding Speakers Natural Walnut (Pair)

The Monitor Audio Silver 200 7G is the most compact floorstanding speaker in Monitor Audio’s Silver Series 7G range, sitting below the Silver 300 7G and Silver 500 7G. Designed for rooms where space is at a premium but full-range performance is non-negotiable, the Silver 200 7G combines a slim cabinet with a 2.5-way driver array to deliver detailed, room-filling sound from a footprint of just 165mm wide.

Driver Technology

At the top of the array is Monitor Audio’s signature 25mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter, fitted with the second-generation Uniform Dispersion (UD) Waveguide II. The waveguide controls the tweeter’s radiation pattern for consistent off-axis response, helping to maintain tonal balance across a wide listening area. C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium) is a lightweight yet rigid material that allows the dome to operate with low distortion across its bandwidth.

Below the tweeter sit two 5¼″ C-CAM RST II mid/bass drivers. RST II (Rigid Surface Technology) uses a distinctive hexagonal dimple pattern pressed into the cone surface, which increases stiffness without adding mass. The result is a driver that breaks up less at the top of its operating range, keeping the midrange clean and detailed. In the 2.5-way configuration, one driver handles the full midrange-to-bass bandwidth while the second reinforces the lower frequencies only, crossed over at 2.7 kHz.

Cabinet & Bass Design

The Silver 200 7G uses a dual-chamber bass reflex alignment with twin rear-mounted HiVe II (High Velocity, low noise) ports, tuned to 49 Hz. The dual-port arrangement increases air flow while reducing turbulence and port noise at higher output levels. Foam bungs are supplied to seal one or both ports, allowing the bass response to be tuned to suit different room placements — useful when the speakers are positioned close to a rear wall.

The cabinet is finished in Natural Walnut real wood veneer, with outrigger feet that accept either rubber pads for hard floors or spikes for carpeted surfaces. Magnetic grilles attach without visible fixings, preserving the clean cabinet lines.

Placement & Partnering

With a sensitivity of 87.5 dB and a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms, the Silver 200 7G is an easy load for most amplifiers. Monitor Audio recommend partnering with amplifiers rated between 60 and 150 watts per channel. The compact dimensions — under 25cm wide and under a metre tall — make these speakers well suited to small and medium-sized rooms, where their controlled bass and wide dispersion characteristics come into their own.

The Silver 200 7G also works well as part of a home cinema front pair, partnered with the Silver C250 7G centre channel and Silver FX 7G surround speakers from the same series.
