The Monitor Audio Radius 270 is the flagship floorstanding speaker in Monitor Audio’s Radius Series 3G — a range designed to deliver serious hi-fi and home cinema performance from cabinets compact enough to live discreetly in any room. At just 177 mm wide and standing 1000 mm tall, the Radius 270 occupies a remarkably slim footprint for a floorstanding speaker, yet its twin-driver configuration and dual-ported cabinet deliver a full-range sound that belies its dimensions. Driver Technology

The Radius 270 employs twin 100 mm (4”) C-CAM mid/bass drivers paired with a 25 mm (1”) C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter. C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium) is Monitor Audio’s proprietary driver cone material, combining the rigidity of a ceramic surface layer with the lightness of an aluminium/magnesium alloy substrate. The gold-anodised dome tweeter extends the high-frequency response to 35 kHz, well beyond the audible range, ensuring clean, detailed treble reproduction with minimal distortion.

Cabinet Design

The cabinet features both front and rear bass ports utilising Monitor Audio’s HiVe II (High Velocity, low noise) port design. The HiVe II port incorporates rifled grooves inside the port tube that guide airflow in a spiral pattern, reducing turbulence and the associated port noise that can colour bass reproduction. This dual-ported arrangement helps maintain bass extension down to 50 Hz despite the compact enclosure dimensions. A single through-bolt driver fixing secures each driver directly to the rear panel, reducing cabinet resonance and improving driver coupling to the enclosure.

Placement & Integration

The Radius 270’s slim profile makes it particularly versatile for room placement. It can serve as the main stereo pair in a two-channel hi-fi system or as the front left and right channels in a Radius-based home cinema system alongside the Radius 225 centre speaker, Radius 90 surround speakers, and one of Monitor Audio’s compact active subwoofers such as the Radius 380 or 390.

Build & Finish

Available in High Gloss Black Lacquer, Satin White, and Walnut Real Wood Veneer, each finish is applied to a high standard. The Satin White option features a smooth, understated matte-satin surface. The cabinet is supplied with adjustable spikes for stability and decoupling on carpeted floors.
