The Marantz CD6007 sits at the heart of Marantz's 6000 series, designed for the aspiring audio enthusiast who values refined CD playback alongside hi-res USB audio support. Building on the well-regarded CD6006, the CD6007 introduces a redesigned headphone amplifier stage and an improved power supply section, delivering a more dynamic and detailed performance from both disc and file-based sources.
HDAM Discrete Circuitry
At the core of the CD6007 is Marantz's proprietary Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module (HDAM) technology. Rather than relying on standard integrated circuit op-amps, Marantz developed discrete circuit boards using surface-mount components arranged in short, mirror-image left and right signal paths. These HDAM modules deliver a significantly higher slew rate and lower noise floor than conventional IC designs, resulting in a more dynamic, accurate and detailed sound.
D/A Conversion & Digital Filters
The CD6007 features high-resolution D/A conversion supporting up to 192 kHz/24-bit PCM and DSD 5.6 MHz playback. Two selectable digital filters allow you to tailor the sound to your preference: Filter 1 uses a slow roll-off characteristic that enhances deep stereo imaging, while Filter 2 applies a sharp roll-off for more precise imaging reproduction.
Headphone Amplifier
Compared to its predecessor, the CD6007 features a completely redesigned headphone amplifier section built around the HDAM-SA2 circuit. Three selectable gain settings (Low, Mid, High) ensure a proper impedance match with a wide range of headphones. The headphone circuit is automatically disabled when not in use, preventing any interference with the main analogue outputs.
Hi-Res USB Playback
The front-mounted USB-A port accepts storage devices loaded with high-resolution audio files. Supported formats include FLAC, WAV, AIFF and ALAC at up to 192 kHz/24-bit, plus native DSD playback up to DSD 5.6 MHz. Standard compressed formats including MP3, AAC and WMA are also supported.
Power Supply & Build
The audio power supply employs high-speed Schottky barrier diodes and enlarged storage capacitors — increased by 120% over the previous model — for improved current stability and reduced AC noise during demanding listening sessions. The solid metal front panel and quiet, responsive disc mechanism deliver a build quality that belies the CD6007's price point.
Connectivity
Analogue output is via gold-plated RCA connectors, while both optical and coaxial digital outputs are provided for connection to an external DAC or digital recording device. The digital outputs can be switched off when not in use to minimise potential interference. A 3.5 mm headphone socket with volume control is located on the front panel alongside the USB input.
