KEF Q150 Bookshelf Speakers Satin Black (Pair)

The KEF Q150 sits at the entry point of KEF's Q Series, a range that brings the brand's signature Uni-Q driver technology to a more accessible price bracket. Above the Q150 in the Q Series lineup are the larger Q350 bookshelf speaker and the Q550 and Q750 floorstanding models, all sharing the same core driver architecture but scaling up in bass extension and output capability.

Uni-Q Driver Array

At the heart of the Q150 is KEF’s 11th-generation Uni-Q driver, a concentric design that places the 25 mm vented aluminium dome tweeter at the acoustic centre of the 130 mm aluminium bass/midrange cone. This single-apparent-source arrangement means both high and low frequencies radiate from the same point, producing a wide, even dispersion pattern and a three-dimensional soundstage that remains consistent across a broad listening area. A tangerine waveguide fitted over the tweeter dome controls high-frequency dispersion for improved off-axis response.

Cabinet and Port Design

The Q150’s enclosure is a two-way bass reflex design with the Uni-Q driver centrally mounted to reduce internal standing waves. The rear-firing port has been shaped using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling to minimise turbulence and reduce midrange leakage through the port, improving vocal clarity at the crossover region. A damped tweeter loading tube behind the Uni-Q assembly smooths lower treble response. Two foam port plugs are included for fine-tuning bass output in room placements close to a rear wall.

Build and Connectivity

The cabinet is constructed from MDF with a vinyl wrap finish, available in Satin Black and Satin White. A magnetic grille attaches flush to the front baffle for a clean aesthetic when not in use. Connections are handled via a single pair of post-type binding post terminals on the rear panel — bi-wiring is not supported. Self-adhesive rubber feet are supplied for surface placement.
