The Denon HEOS Amp HS2 sits within Denon's HEOS ecosystem as a dedicated wireless zone amplifier, designed to bring multi-room streaming capability to any pair of passive stereo speakers. Where the HEOS Link HS2 provides a pre-amp output for use with an existing amplifier, the HEOS Amp HS2 integrates Class D amplification directly, delivering 100 W per channel into 6 ohms (1 kHz, 0.7% THD) or 70 W per channel into 8 ohms (20 Hz – 20 kHz, 0.05% THD). It supports speaker loads from 4 to 16 ohms, making it compatible with a wide range of bookshelf and floorstanding speakers.
Connectivity & Inputs
The rear panel provides a stereo RCA analogue input, a 3.5 mm auxiliary input, an optical digital (TOSLINK) input, and a USB port for local media playback. A dedicated subwoofer pre-out allows integration of an active subwoofer without requiring a separate splitter or crossover. Network connectivity is handled by both a wired Ethernet (RJ-45) jack and dual-band Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac) operating on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Bluetooth is also built in for direct streaming from mobile devices.
Streaming & Multi-Room
Using the free HEOS app on iOS or Android, the HEOS Amp HS2 can stream from network-attached storage, USB drives, and a range of music services including Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer, TuneIn, and SiriusXM. Multiple HEOS devices across different rooms can be grouped for synchronised playback or set to play different sources independently. The HS2 generation introduced improved network stability and AirPlay 2 support for integration with Apple devices.
Audio Format Support
The HEOS Amp HS2 supports high-resolution audio playback including FLAC, WAV, and Apple Lossless (ALAC) at up to 24-bit/192 kHz, as well as DSD at 2.8 MHz and 5.6 MHz. Lossy formats are supported up to WMA 192 kbps and AAC/MP3 320 kbps.
Design & Build
The compact chassis measures 221 × 93 × 214 mm (W × H × D) and weighs 2.8 kg, making it suitable for discreet installation in a cabinet, on a shelf, or wall-mounted in a custom installation. The gunmetal silver finish with black side panels is designed to blend into most interiors. Front-panel controls include volume up/down and mute buttons alongside a multi-colour LED status indicator, network connect, and Bluetooth pairing buttons.
