Definitive Technology ST1 Speaker Stands Black (Pair)

The Definitive Technology ST1 is a dedicated speaker stand designed specifically for the Demand Series bookshelf loudspeakers. Built to support the Demand D9 and D11 (and compatible with the D7), the ST1 positions speakers at an optimised listening height of approximately 785mm, aligning the tweeter axis with a seated ear position for improved stereo imaging and soundstage depth.

Construction & Materials

The ST1 uses a three-part construction: an elongated steel post provides the vertical column, an aluminium collar joins the post to the top plate, and a 305mm square MDF base plate anchors the stand to the floor. The top plate measures 140mm square and is fitted with rubber speaker pads to protect the underside of Demand Series cabinets, particularly the gloss-finished models.

Built-in threaded inserts on the top plate lock compatible Demand Series speakers firmly in place, preventing movement during playback and ensuring consistent positioning between listening sessions.

Stability & Vibration Control

Each stand includes a large internal mass-fill cavity with a capacity of approximately 0.1 cubic feet. Filling the cavity with sand or a similar dry material increases the effective mass of the stand, improving low-frequency stability and reducing resonance transmission between the speaker cabinet and the floor.

The base plate is supplied with adjustable spike feet and rubber spike caps. The spikes are intended for carpeted floors where they penetrate the carpet pile to make direct contact with the subfloor; the rubber caps protect hard flooring surfaces such as tile, hardwood, vinyl, and laminate.

Cable Management

The steel post is hollow, allowing speaker cables to be routed internally from the base to the top plate. This keeps cables hidden and reduces clutter around the listening position.
