The Rotel CD14 is a dedicated CD player from the 14 Series, Rotel's range of components built around their Balanced Design Concept. Power Supply & DAC Architecture
At the heart of the CD14 is a carefully engineered power supply that provides separate, ripple-free voltage and current to the digital and analogue circuits independently. This isolation between the motor and audio circuitry is intended to cut noise and distortion at source, ensuring the sensitive analogue output stage is not compromised by the digital transport mechanism. Digital-to-analogue conversion is handled by a Wolfson 24-bit/192kHz DAC, feeding a low-impedance analogue output stage.
Transport & Playback
The CD14 uses a smooth tray-loading transport mechanism for reliable disc handling. In addition to standard CD playback, it supports MP3 files burned to disc. Front-panel controls and a clear display provide direct access to playback functions, while the included remote control offers full operation from the listening position.
Connectivity
Analogue output is provided on RCA connectors with an output impedance of 100Ω. A coaxial digital output (75Ω, 0.5V) allows the CD14 to be used as a standalone CD transport, feeding an external DAC for off-board digital-to-analogue processing. A 12V trigger input enables automatic power-on when used with other Rotel components.
