Bowers & Wilkins 706 S2 Bookshelf Speakers Gloss Black (Pair)

The Bowers & Wilkins 706 S2 is a 2-way bookshelf speaker from the 700 Series — positioned between the compact 707 S2 and the larger 705 S2 standmount. It brings technologies developed for the flagship 800 Series Diamond down to a more accessible price point, combining a Carbon Dome™ tweeter with a Continuum™ cone bass/midrange driver in a vented-box cabinet.

Carbon Dome™ Tweeter

Purpose-built for the 700 Series, the Carbon Dome tweeter pushes the breakup threshold to 47kHz — well above the audible range — for pinpoint imaging accuracy and fine detail retrieval. The tweeter is decoupled from the cabinet baffle using a dedicated pod mount, reducing the influence of cabinet vibrations on high-frequency performance.

Continuum™ Cone

First introduced with the 800 Series Diamond, the Continuum cone replaced Kevlar® as Bowers & Wilkins’ midrange driver technology. Its woven, coated construction provides highly controlled break-up behaviour, resulting in a more open, neutral midrange with smoother transitions between the pass band and stop band. The 165mm (6.5 in) driver handles both bass and midrange duties.

Cabinet Design

The 706 S2 features a curved cabinet baffle and individual drive unit pods inspired by the 800 Series Diamond, reducing diffraction and colouration. The rear-ported enclosure uses Bowers & Wilkins’ Flowport™ technology — a dimpled port tube designed to smooth airflow and reduce turbulence noise at low frequencies.

STAV24 S2 stands (sold separately) are recommended for optimal positioning.
